Veteran's Day

Today is Veteran's day, and the day I decided to start a blog. I'm not much of a writer, so we will see how this goes.
Today is a day to reflect on those who have served in the military. I am thankful for all of these people.
I have a few ancestors who have served. On my dad's side, there is Jesse Fields who served in the Civil War. On my mom's side, we have Gurden Chamberlin who served in the Revolutionary War, and I think there is another one but I can't find or remember him now. We aren't much of a military family, it seems. I have a cousin on my mom's side who has been involved with JAG, but otherwise I don't know of anyone else who comes close. We mainly are doctors, teachers and farmers (present and past).
My husband has more military relatives, but maybe I will comment on those later.
May all the Veterans have a great day! Thank you for your service and God bless you!

  1. . Someone from either a direct or ancillary line has fought in every American War since King Phillip's War. Just in my Mom's family alone, she had 7 brother, 6 of whom served in at least one branch of the military (a couple served in multiple branches. Mom's father retired from the Army and the family lived near an Army base. Both Mom and her sister married men they had met through their brothers while the brothers were stationed at the nearby base.

Good luck with your blog! I looking forward to reading more.
